A Wharton man has been arrested again for assaulting an officer, according to police.

Officers say they went to the home of 41-year-old Douglas Godfrey Jr. to serve him a summons related to a previous disorderly conduct incident.

They say Godfrey became aggressive, grabbed the officer’s arm, and attempted to bump him with his chest.

The officer reported that Godfrey smelled of alcohol and was slurring his words.

Godfrey was also arrested last month for similar behavior.
