A water main break caused major problems in a Monmouth County town on Tuesday morning.

Officials say the break happened at the intersection of Sylvania and Brighton avenues in Neptune City around 7 a.m.

Police Lt. Michael Vollbrecht says about 20 homes are affected, as well as one apartment complex. He says the break isn't along Highway 33, which is a major artery to a trauma hospital.

Officials say that as of Tuesday afternoon, crews remained on the scene making repairs. They say that there is no estimated time of repair.
