Nearly 10,000 ballots were cast during early voting in Westchester on the first day, shattering a record for early voting in the county, according to the Board of Elections.

It's also the first time New Yorkers can vote early in a presidential election. There are still nine days of early voting in the county.

News 12 was at Greenburgh Town Hall Saturday and spoke with Le Yan, the last in line to vote at the polling site.

“I became a U.S. citizen in 2017 and I am eager to vote," he said.

The hour-long wait did not deter him.

"The reason why I emigrated to this country is the Constitution and the liberty protected by the Constitution," said Yan.

The Greenburgh polling station was set to close at 5 p.m., but due to the long lines, workers remained on the site until the last person casted their vote.
