Police say that a man stole money and jewelry from a 71-year-old woman in Bensonhurst.
The incident happened on July 4 at around 12:40 p.m. when the woman was entering her home and the man approached and offered to assist her with her walker. Shortly after, the man knocked on the woman’s apartment door and told her he was there to fix her leak.
Police say that man then instructed the woman to turn her faucet on and off while he took $230 from her purse. Then, he proceeded to her bedroom where he took jewelry worth $900.
Then, the man escaped towards 4th Avenue. The woman was not injured during the incident.
