Some communities in New York City are seeing a spike in positive COVID-19 cases.
Pelham Parkway is just one of the neighborhoods in the Bronx and Brooklyn to see cases sneaking back up over the last week.
Cases in New York City are still lower than they are in neighboring areas like Westchester County and Nassau County. However, city data shows that some neighborhoods are seeing a rise in new cases.
The Pelham Parkway and Norwood neighborhoods in the Bronx have seen 153 new cases. Park Slope is seeing some of the newest cases in Brooklyn over the last week with almost 300 new cases.
Canarsie in Brooklyn is showing that it has seen 152 positive cases. These numbers put most of New York City at a medium community level.
State health officials urged residents living in counties that have been placed on medium or high alert to wear masks in indoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status.
