Lamont says what happened in Uvalde, Texas at Robb Elementary is eerily similar to the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School almost 10 years ago.
He says school shootings are a uniquely American problem, but it should not be our curse.
The governor outlined what the state has done in terms of mental health resources for young people and in terms of criminal justice reform.
Lamont and Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicze say the federal government should be doing more to prevent mass shootings.
