A former Burger King employee in Huntington Station is accusing the restaurant of firing him over his medical condition.

Ryan Pacheco, 20, has a colostomy bag - which he says his employers knew about. But on his first day on the job in July, he was called into the manager's office and fired.

Pacheco says the manager fired him for not tucking in his uniform shirt - but that he needs to leave it untucked for the bag. He says tucking in the shirt interferes with its function and is uncomfortable.

Managers, he says, added that people with colostomy bags are not allowed around food.

Pacheco has now filed a discrimination lawsuit against Burger King. His attorney says in light of the president signing a proclamation for the 31st anniversary of American's With Disabilities Act, his client being fired is a clear affront to the landmark legislation.

News 12 reached out to Burger King for a comment but has not heard back.
