Middlesex County has been labeled as having substantial transmission of COVID-19 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Substantial transmission has been defined by health officials as 50 to 100 cases per 100,000, or a positivity rate between 8% and 10%.
It has reached the CDC's recommended threshold for universal indoor masking.
Seven of Connecticut's eight counties have been labeled as substantial.
