Gov. Murphy: Staffing issues could lead to paying more at NJ restaurants this summer

Staffing issues could lead to
paying more at New Jersey restaurants this summer, and Gov. Phil Murphy says
that increased worker wages could lead to inflation.
It comes as businesses try
to lure back workers who are benefiting from beefed-up unemployment payments.
The governor says restaurants
and bars could decide to pass those costs along to customers.
"My guess is in fairness, they'll probably pass that on,” says Gov.
Murphy. “So, the burger is going to be an extra 50 cents, 75 cents, whatever it
might be, and that's probably a reality right now. Some amount of inflation
feels inevitable."
The governor says the state Department of Labor has no plans to make
unemployment beneficiaries prove they're looking for work.
