Governor Jon Corzine attended his first public event Saturday since his near-fatal car crash more than a month ago.

Hundreds gathered at General Doyle's Memorial Cemetery to hear Corzine honor fallen veterans in celebration of Memorial Day.

?Thank you all for being here,? Corzine addressed the crowd. ?Thank you to the families but most importantly to the men and women who protected our yesterdays.?

The governor will attend another public event Monday. He will speak at a Memorial Day ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Holmdel.
