The World Cup kicks off this week, with the first match at MetLife Stadium set for Saturday, June 13.

Rep. Josh Gottheimer joined White House officials to announce $8.5 million in federal funding to support law enforcement efforts during the tournament.

The funding will help cover overtime costs and enhance security operations at MetLife Stadium and across Bergen County.

Officials say the support will fund extended shifts, task force deployments, intelligence analysis, traffic control, patrols, investigations, and supervisory operations throughout the 37-day event to help ensure the safety of residents and visitors attending the games.
