The Macy’s 4th of July fireworks display will return to the skies above the Hudson River for the first time in 10 years.
The Independence Day celebration will be able to be seen from riverside communities like Hoboken, Jersey City and Weehawken. Fireworks for the 48th annual celebration will be fired from barges on the Hudson.
The fireworks have been fired from the East River for the past few years.
New Jersey residents who spoke with News 12 New Jersey say they are happy the fireworks will be able to be seen from their backyards once again.
“I think it's great they’re going to have it right across the Hudson here and I think it's going to be great for us to see on this side of the river,” says Lee Schaffer, of Hoboken.
“I love the fireworks. I love this place, so the location is amazing for different views,” says Valentina Manrique, of Hoboken.
There is still no word on if any events will take place in the riverside cities during the fireworks show.
