Woodbridge native struck, killed by truck in NYC
A woman from Woodbridge was struck and killed while crossing the street in Manhattan Friday morning.
The NYPD says Sarah Foster, 27, was hit and killed by an Approved Oil truck at the intersection of Third Avenue and 37th Street in Murray Hill. Foster was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Harrison School District in Westchester says they brought in grief counselors to help the students with the sudden loss of Foster, a sixth-grade social studies teacher. Parents told News 12 Foster coached volleyball and that the Woodbridge native had been with the district for two years.
The driver remained at the scene and was charged with failure to yield a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care. Police say he was trying to turn left onto 37th Street when he allegedly hit her.
