TRENTON - A rally to support women and show solidarity will be held in Trenton this Saturday.

The event is one of 386 other marches set up to coincide with the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump. The largest one will be held in Washington, D.C.

Branchburg resident Elizabeth Meyer organized the Trenton event and says that she did so to oppose many aspects of Trump’s administration. She says that it was around the November election when she started to feel concern about being a woman.

“I refer to it as the trickle down bigotry that has come from the president-elect. This permission that his behavior has given others on how to act is unacceptable,” she says.

Meyers says she started a Facebook and Twitter page for the event and booked the War Memorial in Trenton.

The rally will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Nine speakers have been scheduled, including Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman and civil rights leader Edith Savage-Jennings.

“I just felt this need to do something, because the first thing I thought of was my girls, and the kind of world I want them to grow up in,” Meyers says.

Women at all of the marches are asked to wear purple to show their solidarity.

Over 200,000 women are expected to attend the march in Washington.
