Winter in May? Dash of snow coats ground in parts of the Garden State
April showers bring... May snow? Guess so!
New Jersey is in for some weather whiplash this week after parts of the state woke up Saturday to trace amounts of May snow and bitterly cold temperatures.
News 12 meteorologists say we did not break any record-low temperatures at Newark Airport, but we came close. The low overnight Friday into Saturday was 34 degrees; the record low is 33 degrees.
We did, however, get some snowfall around 1 a.m. at Newark Airport, and the last time that happened on May 9 was back in 1977.
Parts of the state saw another round of light, wet snow late Saturday afternoon as well.

It will be very cold again overnight, with a freeze warning in effect for northern parts of the state.
It's looking a bit better for Mother's Day on Sunday, which will see highs of 62 degrees with partly sunny skies and breezy conditions.
