Trenton’s newly-elected Mayor Reed Gusiora was hit with a lawsuit this week by supporters of his opponent Paul Perez.
The suit alleges that Gusiora bribed poll workers and voters in last month’s election with lunch and Dunkin’ Donuts Munchkins.
Perez’s supporters says that they are not trying to invalidate the election, but are seeking to have Gusiora found guilty of bribery and illegal electioneering. Perez himself is not listed as a plaintiff in the case.
The case seems to be one of those “only in New Jersey” situations – leading News 12 New Jersey’s Brian Donohue to wonder, “What would YOU do for a doughnut?”
