A new tool in Mercer County is helping ensure customers are getting what they pay for at grocery stores.
New Jersey Weights and Measures teams are out to stop customers from overpaying and underpaying at food stores. The Mercer County crew just received special software that helps them more accurately measure the weights of products. The teams also check to make sure registers are scanning the correct prices.
Team members say customers can also protect themselves from getting ripped off. According to team members, shoppers should make sure prices match from the shelf to the register. Customers should also check for a blue sticker on foods, which means they have been checked by a Weights and Measures team.
