ORTLEY BEACH - Hurricane Sandy's effects are kicking in across Ocean County.

In Ortley Beach, damage was already visible along the boardwalk as the rough waves crashed on the shore.

The Long Beach Township Police Department advised anyone who needs to leave the Island can go to:

* Long Beach Township Police Department (68th street in Brant Beach)

* High Point Fire Company (West 80th st in Harvey Cedars)

* Barnegat Light Fire Company

* Engleside INN

* Ship Bottom Police Department

The police department says there will be arrangements for a ride to the nearest shelter.
