A water main break on Route 46 East in Ridgefield caused many delays for commuters Friday.

Crews had to close most of Route 46 under the Turnpike near the George Washington Bridge while they tried to find the cause of the break. Traffic was diverted to either the New Jersey Turnpike South or Teaneck Road.

One lane of Route 46 East has since been opened, though traffic is still moving slowly through the area. Crews will be on the scene until the water main break is fixed.
