Vice President Mike Pence paid a visit to New York's Finest to be briefed on current terrorism threat awareness.
The brief was just before Pence met with law enforcement members of the NYPD. The brief was given by high-ranking NYPD officials.
Commissioner James O'Neill, Chief of Department Terry Monahan, Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence and Counter-terrorism John Miller and Deputy Commissioner of Information Technology Jessica Tisch were present.
Pence says he works with New Yorkers every day and that President Donald Trump is a great admirer of the NYPD and the men and women in law enforcement.
The meeting took place behind closed doors for about 45 minutes. Afterward, Pence thanked the men and women in blue.
Pence also congratulated the NYPD's semi-pro football team for winning its 11th title by beating the FDNY.
He said the first time he came to New York was a week after 9/11 when he was a member of Congress. He said he was inspired by how first responders reacted.
"We remembered 9/11 last week - the 18th anniversary. I want you to know that your president, his vice president and the American people know that NYPD has played central role in keeping the city, the state, and our nation safe over the last 18 years and we're grateful to each and everyone of you," said Pence.
Pence added that the NYPD has no ordinary jobs and commended them for putting the lives of others before their own.
