TRENTON - TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Voters in 41 New Jersey school districts will go to the polls Tuesday to set budgets and choose school board members in an election day that's quickly becoming a relic of the past.

Until last year, school elections were held in most of the state's school districts on the second Tuesday in April.
But most have switched to November votes under a new state law. Districts with November elections do not give voters a direct say on the budgets so long as property tax hikes do not exceed 2 percent.

Thirty-nine districts are voting on base budgets, including four with second questions seeking permission to exceed the tax-hike cap.

Two districts are considering building upgrades.

Poll opening times vary, but they close at 9 p.m.
