Dancers from across the country will be participating in an event to help raise money for artists out of work because of the pandemic.
Dance instructor Olivia Mode-Carter of Scotch Plains is co-producer of “We Dance” – a virtual event to be held Friday evening online. It will feature recorded and live performances to encourage the public to donate to the Artist Relief Tree, an organization that provides grants to freelance artists.
“Some of it brings joy. Some of it pulls at your heartstrings and makes you want to heal from all things that are going on in the world,” Mode-Carter says.
Some of the dances were recorded by groups before the pandemic and before social distancing rules were put into place.
The organizers say that the goal is to raise $10,000 for the artists.
More information about the event can be found here.
