Home surveillance video caught a thief walking up a victim's lawn and to steal a package from a Colonia home - then come back to snatch another.

"When I looked at the camera I noticed something weird -- someone in a baseball cap walking across the lawn, and [they] walked off with a box," says theft victim Jason Terranova.



Terranova says it didn't end there.

"I noticed there was an additional 15 seconds," Terranova says. "A person came back, took another box, and at that point I know I had to make a police report."

Detective Dennis Ferray of the Wayne Police Department says a similar home security video of a package thief helped get another suspect off the streets. That man has been blamed in four of five recent thefts over the last week. Wayne police encourage residents to register their cameras with the department.

"Most people are getting a text alert," says Ferray. "Their packages arrived. We are getting calls people going home to see their packages and they're not finding them."



According to police, video surveillance is very important in these types of crimes.

Anyone with information on the theft or the woman in the video is asked to call the Woodbridge Police Department.
