A vegan bakery in Morris County has reopened after a pause caused by the coronavirus.
Mo’Pweeze Bakery in Denville reopened two weeks ago. Owner Christine Allen says that she wants to spread kindness through her desserts.
“Spreading as much kindness as I can,” she says. “Everyone loves them.”
The bakery opened with a limited staff, along with new safety guidelines.
“All of the employees, everyone has to wear a mask, no matter how hot it is in there. Definitely try to social distance as much as we can,” Allen says.
The bakery is not only vegan, but is also free of most of the common food allergens. Allen says that the idea was born from a very personal situation.
“My son then had about 12 food allergies and I was looking for a bakery to make him a custom cake,” she says. “When I was calling around, they asked me, ‘Should I make it out of air?’ That’s where my ‘aha’ moment went off and I was like, I can do this.”
Allen says that her motto is to make people smile without any discrimination.
“It’s loving everyone, being kind to everyone,” she says.
Besides the store’s flagship location, the products are also sold in select Whole Foods.
