The United States Supreme Court will hear arguments Monday for “Christie vs. the NCAA.”
Gov. Chris Christie and the state have been fighting for years to allow legalized sports betting in the state.
Christie and New Jersey Attorney General Christopher Porrino say that they like their chances.
"We've seen a number of disappointments along the way, both in the district court and third circuit. Now the Supreme Court is going to have the final word,” Porrino said. “I think the governor’s words are the right ones. We're cautiously optimistic.”
New Jersey voters overwhelmingly chose to legalize sports betting in 2012. But the state was hit with lawsuits from several sports leagues who say sports betting should be under federal control.
The Supreme Court’s decision is expected this spring.
