Union police are ramping up their search for a 60-year-old man who they say has been missing since April 21.
Police say a concerned relative reached out to them when Rousier Romain, from Orange, didn't return home from his shift at Whole Foods in Vauxhall on Springfield Avenue Sunday afternoon.
According to authorities, Romain requires medication for several medical conditions.
An investigation revealed Romain left Whole Foods abruptly at 3:40 p.m. and was last seen on foot in the parking lot near the fence along the edge of I-78, which is directly adjacent to the property, police say. They say Romain's vehicle was found parked in the lot, and his cellphone is currently turned off.
Union police with assistance from the K-9 unit from the Union County Sheriff's Office searched the area with negative results. Additionally, a drone flyover was conducted and the New Jersey State Police, transit authorities and local hospitals were notified.
The case is currently being investigated by Detective Odete Mirao of the Union Police Department. Anyone with any information regarding Romain or his current whereabouts is urged to contact Mirao at 908-851-5000 or OMirao@uniontownship.com.
