The decades-old, crumbling building will soon be replaced, but school officials want to show off its historic past before the wrecking ball moves in.

While exploring halls and basements, workers turned up relics like 60-year-old magnifying glasses and wooden exercise equipment.

Those items will be up for auction on June 7 so the history of Trenton Central High School can live on.

"How it started was not just to serve people in the city of Trenton, but Mercer County and the state of New Jersey," says principal Hope Grant. "And there are things that were placed here, and forgotten about and we have been lucky to start finding them."

Alumni are also welcome to take a tour of their old school.

The school also plans to dig up two old time capsules. The most recent was placed more than 50 years ago.

Proceeds from the auction will go to the school's general fund.
