ELIZABETH - The city of Elizabeth is getting in on the holiday spirit by lighting a giant Christmas tree in midtown.

The scene was set in front of a historic train station and Santa Claus was on hand to distribute gifts to hundreds of children.

Janice Deavila, of the Midtown Business District, says the location accomodated hundreds of families who enjoyed demonstrations from firefighters, face painting, hot chocolate and even photos with Santa himself.
