More than 30 years of trash and dirt are finally being carted away from a vacant Bronx lot. 

City Council Member Ritchie Torres allocated $20,000 to help clear the eyesore at Decatur Avenue and Oliver Place. A new group called Friends of Oliver Place will now be cleaning it twice a week until June. 

Residents in the area say they're relieved that their complaints were heard, but they still want more. They're pushing for the Department of Transportation, which owns the space, to turn it over to the Parks Department so it can be turned into a park for kids and maintained. 

The Parks Department said that because of a sharp slope and other concerns, it isn't recommended that it take over the space. 

News 12 also reached out to the Department of Transportation for comment, but has not yet heard back.
