Train fire causes major delays for PATH riders
PATH service was disrupted Wednesday after a fire broke out on a train at the Christopher Street station in lower Manhattan.
The fire was reported around noon, and firefighters were able to get the situation under control by 1 p.m. The blaze caused major delays for thousands of commuters as service was suspended in both directions between Journal Square and Hoboken.
Many commuters said it was a chaotic trip getting back home, tacking on extra hours and dollars to their typical rides and fares.
Fire officials are investigating and say the origin of the flames is not yet clear.
Officials are not sure if the incident will affect Thursday's commute.
