The Throgs Neck community says its local McDonald’s is serving up supersized traffic.

People in the community say the McDonald’s on East Tremont Avenue causes traffic overflow.

"The community does not want this McDonald’s to close; we know the young people love this, our seniors enjoy this; this is a project that has to get started; the traffic on Tremont can’t handle it anymore,” says Matthew Cruz, Community Board 10 district manager.

Cruz says it doesn't help that postal trucks are also blocking visibility and cars aren't restricted from turning in due to no solid yellow lines on the road.

He says an agreement was made to move the restaurant to the middle of the lot, but no construction has started. 

“This has been a dangerous situation for a long time, we’re asking them to finally begin demo with this project,” says Cruz.

News 12 reached out to McDonald's who says renovations should start in the fall with the project wrapped up in 2020.

Members of Community Board 10 say they expected construction to start by July.
