On the job, police officers see their share of blood and hear screaming, but three Ocean Township patrol officers were recently put to the test to work under pressure.
Patrol officers Kate DeLanoy, Matt Jackiewicz and Jeffrey Malone responded to a 911 call Sunday afternoon and found a very pregnant Lorena Morales-Figueroa ready to give birth. Morales-Figueroa told the dispatcher her water broke and her contractions were coming one right after the other.
?We were hoping we could get her into the ambulance into the hospital, but we knew once that time came we?d have to do it right there,? Malone said.
The three officers delivered little Jorge inside the Twin Brook apartment. All three officers say delivering the baby was a first for them.
The woman?s husband and 3-year-old son were in the apartment during the birth. The father was able to cut the umbilical cord.
