The governor compared recent scenes at crowded bars across New Jersey to those seen at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri on Memorial Day, where several people contracted COVID-19 at a large pool party.
“The scenes that we all saw over the weekend of crowded bars in our state where social distancing was not either enforced nor practiced by patrons sadly don't look entirely different from this one,” says Gov. Murphy. “This is how flare ups happen. This is how you risk turning your community into a hot spot."
The governor says it's the responsibility of both the bars and the customers to do what's right in protecting against further spread of the virus.
