Thieves steal about 200 pumpkins from Farm Views Roadstand in Wayne
A group of pumpkin thieves stole just under 200 pumpkins from a farm in Passaic County.
The owner of Farm Views Roadstand in Wayne says the crop was worth more than $2,000. The theft was caught on camera Tuesday night.
"I pulled in and half my display was gone," says owner Todd Kuehm.
Kuehm says the thieves appeared to be four young men. They drove up three different times to steal the pumpkins.
"This is not funny at all. This is blatant thievery," says Kuehm. "This is not a prank. A prank is when everyone laughs about it. I'm not laughing. "
Kuehm says his family has owned and operated the farm for over 120 years. He says he is very angry about the theft.
"I work really hard. This is how we make our living to pay our bills. It's about the principle," he says.
Kuehm says he is working with the Wayne police to track down the thieves. The crime was caught on the farm's surveillance system, an upgraded system that includes license plate detection.
The family is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
Anyone who may have any information about the crime should call Wayne police at 973-694-0600.
