The Morristown Neighborhood House held a special Thanksgiving meal for its preschoolers on Tuesday.
“It’s a wonderful feast for our preschool kids. It’s really important for them to be a part of our community,” says Cornerstone Family Programs CEO Patrice Picard.
The meal was prepared by donor Debra Sandler, CEO of Bazodee Foods, also known as the “Sauce Boss.”
There were barbeque meatballs, Spanish rice, cornbread, fruit cups and a salad.
“We want to entertain them, we want to feed them,” Sandler says. But she says that the meal is also about teaching the children a valuable lesson.
"I think the opportunity to start training children at a very young age to eat well and to eat healthy is really important,” she says.
The volunteers serving the meals say that giving back to the community was something that they enjoyed.
"It's really fun and I like to see how they're excited to see us and I'm excited to see them. It's like a two-way thing,” says volunteer Raidah Karriem.
Morristown Neighborhood House provides educational and social services to the community.
