A 15-year-old from Mays Landing was seriously injured after getting hit by a car Monday while exiting a school bus in Hamilton.
Police say the crash happened around 6 p.m. on Mays Landing Somers Point Road at the intersection of Old River Road. They say Richard Brownell, 79, of Delaware, was driving a 2013 Honda Civic and traveling southbound when he hit the teen.
Officials say the Sheppard School Bus, operated by 60-year-old Renee Myers, of Millville, stopped in the northbound lane of travel.
The teen suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Cooper Hospital in Camden, according to police.
Officials says the investigation is ongoing into bus operator procedures as well as any potential Title 39 violations by either motorist.
