Swastika found drawn outside home of congressional candidate
A Democratic candidate for Congress says a swastika was painted onto the sidewalk in front of his home in Union.
Peter Jacob says the incident happened Friday. It has since been washed away.
Union police say they have launched an investigation, but did not comment on the incident or release any information.
The incident follows recent swastika sightings in Lakewood, Howell and Scotch Plains.
"It is completely un-American and unacceptable that someone should do this in such a beautiful and diverse community," Jacob told News 12 New Jersey.
Jacob is running for Congress in the 7th District against incumbent Rep. Leonard Lance. He issued a statement saying "The display of anti-Semitic symbols like the swastika is abhorrent. We join Peter Jacob in condemning this offensive act of vandalism and support a full police investigation into the matter."
