Residents of a Washington Township community were stunned to learn someone had cut a swastika into a nearby cornfield.
The anti-Semitic symbol was first spotted as the Jewish community was preparing for Yom Kippur. The land is leased and harvested by the Everett family, who lives several miles from the field. Rich Everett says he has no idea who committed the crime. He says his family plants seeds in the spring and doesn?t go back into the fields until the fall harvest.
Everett says it appears the symbol, which can only be spotted from above, was created a while ago. It was spotted by a state police helicopter.
The police and state attorney general?s office are investigating.
