A woman escaped serious injury Tuesday after flipping the SUV she was driving in and slamming into a house.
The accident happened at around 1:30 p.m. in front of a home on Franklin Street. Witnesses tell News 12 New Jersey the vehicle lost control coming around a bend, rolled and went airborne before crashing into the side of the home. The SUV then caught fire.
"The lady inside the house came out and she saw everything, so she was screaming because she thought the house would catch fire also," says Ajay Panchal, who witnessed the accident.
Radwan Alsakhen owns the home the SUV crashed into, and says the house did sustain some damage from the impact and the fire. He says several accidents have happened in the area.
Alsakhen says people often speed and come around the bend too quickly.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Panchal says he and another man smashed out the rear window of the SUV to help the driver out.
He says the driver was not badly hurt, just shaken up.
