Suspicious bag causes police response at Newark Airport
An investigation into an unattended bag caused some tense moments at Newark Liberty International Airport, but officials say there were no issues found with the item.
Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo says the bag was discovered around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, on the foot rest of a wheelchair in Terminal C.
A police dog was brought to the scene and deemed the package as suspicious. The Essex County bomb squad was notified and responded to the scene, and the bag was cleared a short time later.
People in the terminal were allowed to remain there, but people trying to enter the facility had to wait until the site was cleared.
