First responders rescue injured hiker along remote West Milford hiking trail

A group of New Jersey first responders rescued a woman who was injured while hiking in a remote area of West Milford.
New Jersey State Police say that the woman was hiking Wednesday afternoon and sustained a severe head injury while hiking along the Ernest Walker Trail.
State troopers, members of the New Jersey State Park Police and the West Milford Search and Rescue team moved the victim from a heavily wooded area to a small opening near West Pond.
A state police helicopter was able to hover over the area while the victim was hoisted up to bring out of the woods. She was then taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson for treatment.
