Gov. Murphy was joined by Ocean County officials, as well and JCP&L crews, who, along with many crews from out of New Jersey, have been working through the night in order to get customers back online as soon as possible.
The governor says he believes the proper protocols were in place to respond to the storm, adding the pandemic did not play a role in slowing the response -- but was still very important.
“You’re bringing in a bunch of out-of-state folks, may have to make sure we’re preparing them, make sure we don’t have the unintended consequence of bringing the infection back into New Jersey after we beat it down as far as we have,” says Gov. Murphy.
JCP&L’s president agrees with the governor, saying dealing with out of state companies in the recovery effort to prevent coronavirus exposure is not significantly slowing the process of repairing the downed power lines.
Gov. Murphy says both FEMA and the White House have been in touch, offering assistance.
