Fort Lee hosts ‘happy hour’ to celebrate reopening of businesses in town

There is a new kind of happy hour in a Bergen County town that is celebrating the reopening of many downtown businesses.
The “Happy to be Back Happy Hour” is currently taking place in Fort Lee.
“We tried to create the environment of having happy hours throughout the afternoon and evenings,” says Fort Lee Business District Alliance executive director Stuart Z. Koperweis. “Each place has its own set up and promotion, at their own particular times.”
The happy hour is not just at bars and restaurants. Businesses of all kinds are offering up special deals.
“We have about 30-plus retailers signed up. Restauranteurs and businesses and they are all excited to give promotions and get customers into their stores again,” says Koperweis.
The summertime happy hour campaign is an annual event in Fort Lee. But this year the COVID-19 pandemic meant some changes, including signs to remind customers about social distancing, mask wearing and hand washing.

Many customers say that they would have visited the restaurants and businesses anyway, even if it wasn’t for the event. But they say that the extra discount is welcomed.
More information about the happy hour can be found on the Fort Lee Business District Alliance website.
