At 1 p.m., Gov. Murphy will be joined by Education Commissioner Dr. Lamont Repollet to give guidance on how the state's over 2,500 public schools will look in the fall.
The governor says the departments of health and education have been working on the guidance for weeks. The guidance will not be, as Gov. Murphy put it -- "one size fits all" -- and will take into account geographic, demographic, and economic differences.
"While this guidance will have clear standards to be followed in every district to ensure the safety of everyone in our school facilities, individual district superintendents and boards of education, working with their school communities, will be given flexibility to ensure an implementation strategy that best works for their specific needs, and which recognizes and respects the unique characteristics of each of our districts," says Gov. Murphy.

New Jersey's plan comes fairly soon after other states in the region, such as Connecticut and Massachusetts, announced their plans for schools in the fall.
The governor initially shut down the state's schools in March.
