Trenton mayor: Police cars set on fire, looting takes place amid protests over George Floyd's death
Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora says at least two police cars were set on fire and looting took place on the streets amid protests in the city Sunday over George Floyd's death.
Hundreds of people gathered to participate in a "Justice for George Floyd" protest in Trenton. The protest started peacefully Sunday, with a wide array of speakers addressing police brutality and racism.

Many protesters tell News 12 that they were triggered by the video of Minneapolis police officers kneeling on George Floyd's neck. They say they are furious that the officers have not been charged with first-degree murder.

"This man was actually being choked to death,” says protester Lukman Muhammad.

Protesters tell News 12 they are calling for many changes, including sensitivity training for police officers.
Trenton Police Director Sheilah Coley said late Sunday that there had been arrests. Gusciora said there were no injuries.
Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri said people had the right to protest but that authorities have an obligation to prosecute when protesting turns to rioting.
Similar protests were held in Metuchen and Rahway Sunday night without any violence or looting. Organizers with the Black Lives Matter movement also peacefully gathered in Long Branch where they marched from Pier Village to police headquarters.
