NFL Draft picks have had to start making the transition from college to the pros, virtually, with no rookie mini-camps this year, and that includes the New York Jets.
Since Mekhi Becton was drafted 11 overall by the Jets back in April, the 6 foot 7 inch, 364-pound offensive tackle out of Louisville has been working out, studying the playbook, and attending virtual team meetings.
"It's weird because I can't go on the field and physically walk through the plays, so I can get a better understanding of it so that would be the only weird aspect of it,” says Becton.
Becton says he’s been texting a few of his teammates, including the guy he needs to protect, quarterback Sam Darnold.
"Me and Sam actually texted each other the other day so I'm definitely going to try to form a relationship between us soon than later and actually I texted Le'Veon Bell as well," says Becton.
Becton luckily already knows one of his new teammates pretty well -- fourth round pick out of Charlotte, Cameron Clark. The two offensive linemen worked out together with the same trainer before the draft, and Becton left a large impression.

"I remember when I first met Mekhi and he was running and doing drills and still recovering from an ankle injury from the season and he was still just like, when he would go the whole gym would stop and watch, he's a freak,” says Clark.
Even though their introduction to the NFL has been unconventional so far, their rookie goals are clear.

"I want to start as a rookie and I want to make the playoffs,” says Becton.
