Parks in New Jersey filled up to capacity this weekend after Gov. Phil Murphy announced the reopening of state parks.
Parks that reached max capacity on Saturday included:
- Hacklebarney State Park
- Double Trouble State Park
- Norvin Green State Forest
- Ramapo Mountain State Forest
- Ringwood State Park (Skylands Section)
- Round Valley Recreation Area
- Worthington State Forest
- Batsto Village parking area (Wharton State Forest)
The parking lots at the parks reached 50% maximum capacity as part of the governor's executive order limiting physical interaction.
People were seen walking, running and biking and appeared to be following social distancing guidelines.
Hacklebarney State Park has rerouted trails, so that they only go one way and loop back around. Residents say they are fine with the governor's decision to put limitations on parks as part of the reopening process, but say they do have mixed emotions about the parks being closed in the first place.
It's expected to be a warm and beautiful Sunday, so the parks may fill up quicker as the day progresses.
