Hoboken dorms being used to house firefighters medical staff amid COVID-19 spread

With schools no longer in session, dorms in Hoboken are now housing medical staff and first responders on the front lines of the coronavirus outbreak.
One of those dorms is Jonas Hall at Stevens Institute of Technology, which has become a makeshift firehouse.
“We are making every attempt to distance the firefighters from each other to the extent that it is possible in our profession,” says Chief Brian Crimmins.
The Hoboken Fire Department says two firefighters and one dispatcher have tested positive for coronavirus and are all recovering.
Students living in Jonas Hall have either returned home or have been moved to another residence hall.
Stevens’ contract with the city to house firefighters and medical staff lasts for six weeks with the option to renew. It is funded through federal money earmarked for COVID-19 expenses.
