Pet owners struggling to get by during the pandemic are getting some help from a New Jersey animal welfare center.
“We want to make sure no one has to ever consider giving up their pet,” says St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center goodwill ambassador Nora Parker.
The Madison center has started a drive-thru pet food bank. Pet owners can pull up, stay in their cars and the center’s staffers will load up the food. St. Hubert’s is offering the service Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and from 2 p.m.-4 p.m.
Parker says that St. Hubert’s is ready to help as many families as possible.

“We have a good supply of food, both dry and canned, for puppies and kittens, cats and dogs,” she says.
Parker says that pet owners should also have a plan to care for their pets in case one of the owners gets sick.
"You want to have one person and a backup person that could care for them in the event that you're ill and can't do that yourself,” she says. "You want to make sure you have a kit ready with two weeks’ worth of supplies, your vaccine records, everything someone needs to take care of your pet."
More information about the drive-thru service can be found on St. Hubert’s website.
