Eric Mewengkang lives in Toms River, and News 12 followed him Monday from his driveway to the hospital, where he dropped off a few dozen face shields – all made in his home.
Eric shared videos of his 3D printer making the parts of the shield which hold the plastic together. He says he and his buddies came up with the idea after seeing it on an online forum.

For the last week, he's delivered the shields to urgent cares and hospitals in the area, including Community Medical Center in Toms River.
Eric says the demand is overwhelming. The first day they made 50, now they can make upwards of 200 a day and he's looking to add even more local 3D printing enthusiasts. He has a GoFundMe set up on his personal Facebook page to help pay for supplies.
Eric says once the federal supplies arrive, he hopes the need goes away for the crucial health care safety devices as the fight against COVID-19 wages on.
